Introduction
Berry season is here, and it’s delicious! You can find berries in every market and you’ll pay a pretty penny for them. But did you know that there are some festivals that celebrate the best of the berry world? This year, I’ve found five great festivals where you can sample dozens of varieties from all over the country. The best way to enjoy these festivals is to make a day out of them: pack your picnic basket with homemade sandwiches, snacks, water bottles and everything else you need for a sunny afternoon in the park. Then bring along some friends or family members so you can share all these wonderful treats with them!
The best festivals in the U.S. for berries and other fruit
Berries are delicious and good for you. They’re also the stars of some of America’s best festivals, where you can enjoy them in their natural habitat and learn more about them. Here are some of our favorites:
- [The National Blueberry Festival](https://www.nationalblueberryfestival.com/) takes place at the end of July in South Carolina’s Brunswick County, which has been called “the blueberry capital of the world.” It includes cooking demonstrations from local chefs and free samples from bakers selling pies, muffins and other treats made with fresh berries (including one called “Blueberry Pie-O-Matic”). There are also games for kids as well as live music performances on two stages throughout the weekend event.
- [The Strawberry Festival at Salinas de Gortari Park](http://www.salinasdemexico.gob/es/eventos) takes place each year during March or April depending on when strawberries are ripe enough; this year it’s slated for March 24 through 27th if you’re interested! This festival features musical performances by local musicians including Mariachi bands plus traditional dances like Las Diablos del Oro (The Devils Gold). Visitors can also participate in contests like La Tortilla de Maiz (Corn Tortillas Cooking Contest), La Concurso de Raspados (Shaved Ice Competition), El Concurso Nacional Mazorca de Maiz y Huevos Duros de Gallina con Salsa Verde ([National Corn Kernel Hard Boiled Egg Competition])) or even La Copa Internacional del Mezcal ([International Tequila Cup]).
Strawberry Festival, Jarrettsville, Md.
The Strawberry Festival is a great event for the whole family, and it’s easy to see why. The delicious berries are sure to please your palate, but they also offer some health benefits that will make you feel good about eating them.
Strawberries are naturally high in vitamin C and fiber, two nutrients that help keep you feeling healthy from the inside out. And if that wasn’t enough reason to indulge in these sweet treats, they have been shown to lower blood pressure as well!
Blueberry Festival, Chincoteague, Va.
The Blueberry Festival is held annually on the first Saturday and Sunday in August. It’s a great time to visit, especially if you’re looking for an excuse to head down to Chincoteague Island.
The festival takes place at the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company grounds, which are located just off Route 13 near the intersection with Route 611 (also known as Main Street). There will be plenty of parking available there and throughout town so you won’t have any trouble finding a spot for yourself or your car if needed!
Food vendors will be selling delicious blueberry-flavored treats such as muffins, pancakes and waffles; ice cream; smoothies; hot dogs; hamburgers; grilled cheese sandwiches…and more! There will also be plenty of activities going on so bring along some sunscreen because this event tends towards being outdoors most days – even though we are talking about berries here so maybe not too much sunscreen if possible? Either way I’m sure everyone has fun regardless 🙂
Peach Days, Benton Harbor, Mich.
Peaches are a good source of beta carotene, potassium, vitamin C and fiber. They also contain vitamins A and B6.
Blackberry Festival, Sedalia, Mo.
The Blackberry Festival is a fun family event held in July, with a parade, carnival and live music. It’s also one of the best places to get your hands on blackberry treats! The festival takes place in Sedalia, Missouri.
Red Raspberry Festival, Prunedale, Calif.
The Red Raspberry Festival is coming up soon! The festival takes place in Prunedale, California on May 23-24. It’s a great event for families, as well as those who want to enjoy some delicious berries and jam.
The best way to get there is by car or motorcycle because parking can be crowded during this busy time of year. Bring your own camping gear if you plan on staying overnight–there are no hotels nearby! You’ll also need cash for food vendors who don’t accept credit cards (they’ll have signs posted). Be sure not wear any clothes with stains on them, as they may not let you inside their booths if they think that customers might be turned off by them!
If this sounds like fun but you have no idea how much money should spend at these kinds of festivals? Don’t worry about it: just bring along enough cash so that when all else fails there will still be something left over after buying everything else needed such as food/drinks etc..
Native Fruit Festival, Santa Cruz Island, Calif.
The Native Fruit Festival is a celebration of the delicious and healthy native fruits of Santa Cruz Island, California. It’s held in May each year on the island’s north end by the lighthouse. The festival includes food vendors selling locally grown fruit snacks, crafts made from palm leaves and pine needles, lectures about how to identify edible plants in your area (including a few that aren’t actually poisonous), plus live music performances by local bands like The Salty Marimba Band or The Mango Kings.
The island itself has always been home to many different types of plants and animals–and this includes many different kinds of fruit trees! Some examples include manzanita berries (which taste like apple cider), guava trees (with sweet white flesh inside their red skins), sea grape bushes (whose grape-like fruits are great for making jams) and even avocado trees! There are also dozens more varieties available depending on what part of California you’re standing on right now: maybe someone nearby has something different growing over their fence?
Berries are delicious and good for you
Berries are delicious and good for you. They’re high in antioxidants, low in calories and easy to find at the grocery store. The best part? Berries taste like sweet candy! If there’s anything better than eating healthy food that tastes good, it’s eating delicious, healthy foods that are also good for you.
Berries are really tasty and they make me feel great when I eat them because they have all kinds of vitamins inside them like vitamin C which helps keep my body healthy so I can stay strong all day long without getting sick or feeling weak from being tired too much (which happens sometimes). Plus berries taste so good together on top some ice cream sundae topped off with whipped cream & chocolate syrup too!
